No more bad breaks? Under the current rules there are many scenarios where you can easily pick up a penalty for accidentally moving your ball. For example, kicking it while searching for it in leaves or when clumsily addressing a putt, like in the images above. For the new 2019 rulebook, a key philosophy was to make the rules fairer and simpler to put into action for new golfers. So the new Rule 13 will state there is ‘no penalty for accidentally causing a ball to move’ when on the green, as long as you replace it before carrying on.
